Somatic exercises play a central role in the Healing Spaces event by helping participants reconnect with their bodies and release the physical tension often stored from trauma. These practices, including movement and breathwork, allow for a deeper healing experience, offering participants tools to manage stress and trauma in a holistic way.

Healing Spaces is essential because trauma doesn’t just live in the mind—it embeds itself in the body, influencing how we move, breathe, and feel. Black and Brown bodies often carry the weight of generational, racial, and personal trauma, which can manifest as chronic pain, hypervigilance, fatigue, or a persistent sense of being in survival mode. This constant stress can disconnect us from our bodies, making healing feel distant or inaccessible.
Healing Spaces offers a safe, affirming environment where participants can release tension, reconnect with themselves, and experience healing through movement, breathwork, and community support.
In addition to these practices, the event provides valuable information and resources on processing trauma, reclaiming embodiment, and fostering long-term well-being.
